More simply put, we do what Friends are supposed to do – make your life better.
The Friends of the Alamance County Public Libraries is a 501-(C)-3 nonprofit group formed to serve as a vibrant, active advocate of local libraries, education, and literacy. We are a totally volunteer organization whose members spend hundreds of hours each year in support of our cause.
The hard-working, energetic and creative staff of the Alamance County Public Libraries are constantly seeking better ways to serve our community. In the past year, the ACPL branches had over half a million patron visits. Our Friends organization provides additional funding for many library programs to make them even more effective. We also provide support to a wide variety of community literacy programs.
The majority of our funding comes from our wildly popular, twice-yearly book sales. The books, CDs and DVDs we sell have been donated by members of the community, so our profit margin is 100%!
We also benefit from annual membership fees and cash donations. We hope you will consider purchasing a membership, renewing at a higher membership level, or making a donation.
